Infant in Critical Condition After Suspected Child Abuse, Police Say
Officers responded to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital just minutes before 7:45 p.m. on Friday after hearing reports of a 9-month-old child with life-threatening injuries, police said in a news release. Investigators determined the infant boy was suffering from severe injuries due to head trauma.
Investigators suspect the injuries are a result of child abuse.
The child is listed as in critical condition as of noon Saturday, police said.
Detectives with the Winston-Salem Police Department are investigating. Police said the investigation is in its early stages.
