LEXINGTON, N.C. -- A 43-year-old Lexington man is charged with failing to secure his gun after his 16-year-old accidentally shot himself in the leg, Davidson County deputies said.Deputies said the incident happened last Monday at a home on Rockcrusher Road.The teen, whose name wasn't released, found his father's gun and was playing with it when it went off, deputies said.He was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center to be treated.The father, Terry Kirkus, was released on a written promise to appear in court.
