KANNAPOLIS—More than 1,000 members of the Patriot Guard, Rolling Thunder and other military organizations escorted a fallen Vietnam Veteran Saturday morning to Kannapolis.
Sgt. First Class Donald Shue's remains were recently found after he was reported missing in action in 1969. The Concord native, who later moved to Kannapolis, was a member of the Army Special Forces. More than 40 years after his disappearance, Shue's family and the community can begin to have closure as they bid him a final farewell.
“To have one come home who has been missing is rewarding. Not only for us but especially for his family,” said Bill Barclay, U.S. Army Special Forces.
