SKYLAND, N.C. -- Authorities said four workers were taken to the hospital after a roof collapsed at a construction site near Asheville.

A dispatcher with the Buncombe County Emergency Operations Center said the workers were building a Korean Methodist church in Skyland when the roof collapsed Friday morning. Dispatcher John Sparks says six people were injured, but two refused treatment.

The four people were taken to Mission Hospital in Asheville, where a spokeswoman said two are in serious condition and two are in fair condition.
