The King City Council held a meeting Monday night to decide when to hold a public hearing on the Christian flag debate. An American Legion Post put the monument and cross next to the veteran's memorial on city-owned land.Councilman Charles Allen said he received a complaint about the cross from an Afghan war veteran, who wants to remain anonymous.King officials removed the Christian flag after receiving a call from the veteran and later a letter from the American Civil Liberties Union charging that the flag violates the Constitution. Many citizens in King have vehemently protested the City Council's decision.Monday night's meeting was held at City Hall at 7 p.m. Council members decided to hold a public hearing on the debate on Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. at the King Elementary School Gym.At the hearing, the City Council will present three to four options on how to deal with the situation.
