FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. -- A soldier from Winston-Salem has been killed by a bomb blast in Afghanistan.The Department of Defense on Saturday announced that Staff Sgt. Adam L. Dickmyer, died on October 28. He was killed by an improvised explosive device while on foot patrol in Kandahar province.The 26-year-old infantryman was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division and was based at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.Dickmyer joined the Army in Oct. 2002 and arrived at Fort Campbell in Nov. 2009.He is survived by wife, Melinda Dickmyer, of Arlington, Va.; father, David Dickmyer, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and mother, Stephanie Dickmyer, of New Port Richey, Fla.
