Dear Mr. Adams:
Thank you for your email regarding the Christian flag and cross at the veterans memorial in King. As a member of the House Values Action Team and the Congressional Prayer Caucus, I agree with you that our religious freedom should be protected.
It is unfortunate that we have so many frivolous lawsuits that strive to impinge on our freedoms being filed around the country. However, the decision regarding the veterans' memorial will be made by the King City Council and as your federal representative, I do not have jurisdiction in this matter. Therefore, I encourage you to contact the King City Council and share your concerns with them directly if you have not already done so. The contact information is included here for your convenience.

You may be interested to know that I am a strong supporter and original cosponsor of H.Res. 397, which would designate the first week in May as America's Spiritual Heritage Week. Attached is a copy of the resolution that I think you will find informative. We were founded on Christian principles and the further we move away from them, the weaker we become. It is important to note that whether H.Res. 397 comes before the House is completely in the hands of Speaker Pelosi and the ruling Democrats. They control what we are allowed to vote on.
Please continue to contact me on any issues of concern. Thank you for visiting my award winning website, www.foxx.house.gov. We update our site daily and it is a great resource to learn about constituent services, legislative updates and my work in Congress. I hope you will continue to utilize the website and let me know what you think about it.
Sincerely,
Virginia Foxx
Member of Congress
