Chavez Rejects Obama's Nuclear Stance

TRIPOLI, Libya -- Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez has criticized President Barack Obama for saying that Caracas must abide by international rules governing nuclear energy as it looks to build a reactor.

Chavez says Venezuela doesn't "obey any empire" and has the right to peacefully develop nuclear power.

The Venezuelan president spoke Saturday in Libya where he received an honorary degree from Tripoli's Academy of Higher Education.

His comments come in response to remarks Obama made Tuesday. The U.S. leader said Venezuela has the right to a peaceful nuclear program but also an obligation not to pursue atomic weapons.

Chavez met with Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi and other officials while in Tripoli to sign economic cooperation agreements. Details of the accords were not immediately available.

Anyone should be allowed to build a reactor for power, But they should be watched to ensure that they don't persue an atomic weapons of any kind.

Not sure why obama thinks its necessary as venezuela has had a nuclear reactor for the past 50 years...meh either way obama and chavez are very stupid leaders.

I have a very weird feeling about this. Is it coincidence that the Iran PM just visited Chavez days earlier? Now they are globe trotting expanding their nuclear "energy" influences. US then announced to Saudi Arabia a massive arms deal. Days later, Saudi Arabia came out and denounced Israel. Saudi Arabia and the Middle East want it to be Nuclear Free so that Iran can control the entire region, essentially by trying to get the Israel to confess that they have nukes and remove their one and only means of existence.

The balance of power is shifting very rapidly against us, and once it does, I think a lot of countries are going to start to show their true colors. It will be very curious to see if Saudi Arabia asks the US to remove the bombs and see if Obama complies. If he does I think it will expose where his heart truly lies.

I hope God does exist, and is in control of the situation, because believe you me, we are going to need it.

Venezuela is a peaceful nation, they already have a nuclear reactor constructed in 1958 is the RV-1 is located at the IVIC (Instituto Venezolano de Investigaciones Cientificas) it is a 3 MW nuclear reactor purchased from General Electric, and so far they haven't constructed any nuclear bomb, they have signed all the international treaties for nuclear energy, including the Inter American Anti Nuclear Treaty. The only country in the world which have killed million of civilians with two atomic bombs is the United States, shame on you gringos!!

The debate which I researched during my time at West Point, is over. Trust me the atomic weapons were necessary. Do not inject modern, liberal, decadent thought and living into a situation 65yrs ago when people like the Japanese were willing to die for honor. Our culture is hard pressed to produce people willing to fight for freedom. Chavez is dangerous. To allow nuclear material in his hands is a matter to be approched with caution. My personal favorite solution is an aneurysm about 7.62mm in diameter,
