The month-long protest by those who want the Christian flag flown at the Veterans Memorial in King is about to come to an end.The permit for the protest expires at the end of the day on Saturday.Saturday morning, just over 4,000 protesters who want the flag to go back up marched to the memorial. The rally started at Calvary Baptist Church on Main Street.Supporters said they've proven their point, but they said it's not over just yet."We asked for a seven day extension, or at least until the next council meeting Nov. 1," said protester Eugene Kiger. "We were denied from the city manager. We can remain during park hours, which are 5:30 a.m. to midnight."On Friday, WXII 12 News spoke to a group that is opposed to putting the flag back up.The group has been quiet throughout the ordeal, and one member said they haven't come forward because they're scared. Both sides have to wait for a final decision next month from the King City Council.
