WELCOME TO THE TRIAD FLIGHT OF HONOR!

The Triad Flight of Honor is a service project of Rotary District 7690, which includes the 11 county region of Piedmont North Carolina. Rotarians and other community organizations and businesses are united to honor World War II veterans for their courage, valor and sacrifice to our country.
Our WW II veterans once numbered 16 million, however, we are now losing nearly 1,200 per day. Many never got to visit their WW II Memorial that opened in Washington, DC in 2004. The veterans who are still with us are now in their 80's and 90's.
This project involves flying 100 veterans (at no cost to them) to Washington, DC from the Piedmont Triad Airport in Greensboro on a US Airways charter plane for a one-day tour of the memorials. In addition to the veterans, 33 volunteer guardians, a flight doctor, 2 EMT's, and team leaders will be on the plane to assist our veterans throughout the day.

Veterans: If you are a WWII veteran and want to go on one of our flights, please print the veteran application and return it to the address at the bottom of the form. If you would like for us to mail you an application, please call (336) 285-8847.
Guardians ($200 fee): We have received over 500 guardian applications to fill approximately 33 guardian positions per flight. As such, we will gladly send you an application but must add that there is a waiting list for guardians. Also, please recognize our policy that we do not allow family members as guardians. There has been an outpouring of love and support from our community for our honored WWII veterans and the Triad Flight of Honor. It takes $500 to sponsor a veteran for a flight and we hope to continue our fundraising efforts to make sure every WWII veteran who wants to go gets to see their Memorial.
