DURHAM, N.C. -- A 17-year-old has been charged with stabbing a fellow student at Northern High School in Durham. Capt. Don Ladd with the Durham County Sheriff's Office said the teen was arrested Thursday and faces charges including assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting grievous injury. Durham County schools spokesman Jeff Nash said the stabbing happened early Thursday morning in a hall at Northern High. Classes went on as scheduled, although the sheriff's office increased security at the school. Ladd said the victim was taken to a hospital for surgery, and his condition was stable but guarded. Police are still investigating. Ladd said it's not immediately clear what happened, or whether there's any relationship between the two students.
