Man Critically Wounded In Knife Fight Outside Restaurant

3 Facing Charges In Fight Outside Sobe's Backstreet Pavilion

A Mount Airy man was critically wounded in a knife fight outside a Mount Airy restaurant Wednesday evening.Police said they were called to the Sobe's Backstreet Pavilion on North South Street at about 8:35 p.m.When officers arrived, they discovered that 20-year-old Michael Ian Bailey had been taken by car to Northern Hospital. He was later transferred to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, police said.Police said Bailey was involved in an altercation with 17-year-old Ryan Delfino Cruz in the parking lot of the business. Police didn't say why the two were fighting.He was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury.An accomplice, Andrew Jacob Shelar, is facing charges of being an accessory after the fact for helping Cruz after the fight, police said.Cruz and Shelar are being held on $500,000 bond each.
