Charlotte Officer Shot, Wounds Suspect In Pursuit
Suspect's Injuries Are Life-Threatening

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer has been injured during an early morning shootout with a suspect.The Charlotte Observer reported police began chasing a suspect about 1 a.m. Sunday morning after a report of a shooting off Interstate 77.Police did not release the name of that shooting victim and said the person was being treated for serious injuries.Police spokeswoman Rosalyn Harrington says Officer B. Harrison was shot in the leg as officers later cornered the suspect in the first shooting.Harrison also fired, hitting the suspect in the torso.The suspect was not identified.His injuries were considered life-threatening.All three shootings remain under investigation.
