High Point officer suspended

HIGH POINT, NC - A High Point police officer has been suspended for 3 weeks and demoted after his conduct during a recent break-in investigation was called into question. A 10-minute long 911 call details the mistreatment of Bridgette Pettiford by Officer Ben Sherrill.
Pettiford was trying to request a different officer when Officer Sherrill threatened to arrest her for misusing 911.
The suspension and demotion will cost Officer Sherrill around $8000 worth of pay. He and Police Chief Jim Fealy plan to apologize to Pettiford in person later on today.
