On Wednesday, Jan. 26, Rep. Bryan Holloway was sworn in for a fourth term. He was accompanied on the floor of the North Carolina House by his wife, Misti Holloway.

On Thursday, Jan. 27, Rep. Holloway was named as chairman of both Education Appropriations and Education Policy Committees. This appointment makes Rep.Holloway one of a very small handful of representatives who were named chair of two standing committees. In addition, Holloway is the only chairman in the North Carolina House who will chair both the money and policy side of education.

Rep. Holloway says he is proud to have the confidence of the Speaker of The North Carolina House, but he is more appreciative of the citizens of the 91st District for having confidence to re-elect him this past November.

Holloway also says that the new majority was handed a tough task in dealing with a four billion dollar budget shortfall. However, Holloway is confident the new majority is up to the task, and they will be working to help create an economic environment that is conducive to job growth. Holloway also assures citizens that there will be zero tax increases this session, and the temporary taxes will expire this year as stated in law.

Rep. Holloway concluded by saying he will take his chairmanships seriously and work vigorously to protect the classroom. “Students need a sound education, and to achieve that, we must work to give them the tools necessary to achieve and protect the jobs of those who teach them,” Holloway stated.
