BUTNER, N.C. (AP) — An employee of the federal prison in Butner has pleaded guilty to a drug charge after authorities accused him of asking an inmate to help him get heroin.

Nathan Prady is to be sentenced in May, according to The Daily Dispatch of Henderson. The 32-year-old Creedmoor resident faces up to four decades behind bars after pleading guilty Thursday to drug trafficking.

U.S. Attorney George Holding said Prady was caught in a sting that is part of a wider probe at the prison. He said authorities believe Prady intended to smuggle the heroin into the prison.

Federal agents said Prady approached an inmate and asked to use the prisoner's contacts in Texas to have heroin mailed to Prady's home. An undercover county officer posed as the friend and authorities taped their conversations.
