The King Farmer’s Market, formerly located at the American Legion Post adjacent to the Stokes County Fairgrounds, is moving. The new market location will be outdoors at the Stokes Family YMCA. The new market hours of operation will be from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday from May through October. Opening day for the new market location will be Wednesday, May 4.

Arugula, asparagus, bok choy, cucumbers, eggs, radishes, strawberries, lettuces, onions, spinach, jams and jellies and turnips will be among the varied offerings local farmers will have available on opening day.

“The market’s mission of promoting fresh, locally grown food dovetails nicely with the YMCA’s Healthy Living and Social Responsibility areas of focus,” said Randy Fulk, Agricultural Extension Agent for Stokes County. “This represents a tremendous opportunity for synergies between the two groups.”

Stokes Family YMCA is located at 105 Moore Road in King.

For more information, contact the YMCA at (336) 985-9622 or the Stokes County Cooperative Extension office at (336) 593-8179.
